With a re-construction plan slated for April 1st, 2010, the Nike Park Tokyo project has been an ongoing source of politically-fueled controversy. Much of this stems from Nike’s acquisition of the naming rights for the public space originally known as Miyashita Park. A by-product of this has been a number of grassroots works of art created as campaign visuals that have been put up throughout the park.
In the continuity of their various installations in 2009, here a new creation by the French collective Visual System presented within the framework of the festival Exit to Creteil. A collaboration between Julien Guinard, Anthony Gouvrillon, Bastien Ribeiro and Valère Burrow.
The Discreet Window is a blind that provides visual feedback for a home-office environment about the users’ work activity.
As an ambient display, The Discreet Window is a membrane that communicates the work intensity to both the home-office space and the outside. The more the user works, the less light is coming inside the room. Thus, the less visual contact there is between both sides of the window.
